Bottle-grade PET plant successfully in operation in Mogilev (Belarus)May 16, 2009 – The 2R Polyester polycondensation plant commissioned in October 2008 and originally designed for textile-grade purposes has successfully been upgraded with the Uhde Inventa-Fischer resin-grade precursor chips technology, as planned. The precursor PET chips are further treated in Mogilev’s existing SSP to obtain the required viscosity to produce container-grade resin.
The plant is capable of giving an output of more than 250 tons/day with excellent quality for all homo-PET and co-PET requested by the market. The main co-monomer is IPA. With minor changes to the plant the production is now made flexible to produce either resin-grade or textile-grade chips, with just a few hours of intermediate product. Both options of raw material selection are possible – the plant runs both on DMT and on PTA. As such this plant – supplied and commissioned by Uhde Inventa-Fischer – is the most versatile unit in Europe.
